For those of you who would love to see TBH made into a movie, Here is some information from Herself regarding its current status. Who would you cast for the leads?

I only know who Dimitri would be- Giovanni Ribisi. As I read, this is the face that was conjured up in my head. I don't even know what I've seen him in until my husband was watching Avatar the other night and there he was! I had to google Avatar to check out the cast and this is the face I have. I don't know, maybe there's a better one, but I think he fits the bill.

Great choice for Dimitri, Celestem. GR has the right stature and look.
I think Henry Cavil from The Tudors and Superman would make a fine Alexander. I will post a picture as soon as I find one.

I think Henry cavill is the #1 choice for Alexander... He does fit. I, as most people probably do, have a very clear picture of Alexander in my head - no actor will look perfect. Unfortunately.

Celestem, I also think your choice for Dimitri is very good. I've read a lot of people who wanted Henry Cavill for Alexander and maybe he would fit but I'm not sure if I even want to see a movie made. I'm not sure I have a completely clear picture but of course I keep trying to imagine Tatiana and Alexander and I think a movie would spoil the images for me whichever actor was playing. Anyway, if they do film I think it should be a mini series and not a movie. The only thing I ever saw which did justice to a book was BBC's Pride and Prejudice from 1995 and that was 6 episodes. I'm sure everybody's seen that and if they haven't they should. Of course only if PS writes the script, I wouldn't trust anybody with it, from reading about it I think that's what she thinks too. But keep putting pictures of beautiful actors (and actresses)

Paullina has written the script, the reason the rights have gone back to her is because the production company had hired someone else to write a script and they couldn't come to an agreement about which script to use, Paullina didn't like the one they had had written. And now her script is a condition of development, So hopefully if it is ever made, it will at least have a good script.

Nice choice, Celestem! I actually pictured Dimitri much less attractive. Maybe it was just his awful character that made him ugly in my mind. If I remember his description correctly, he had very yellow teeth and very greasy hair. Yuck! All do-able with Hollywood magic, eh! Yeah, I think it's the general consensus that there is no way the Tatiana and Alexander (basically any book character) of our imagination can ever be duplicated, but for some reason most people have that urge to see it come to life. At least for me. But I dig this thread. It's fun. Henry Cavill. Yeah, I can see that. Some shots of him make him look good and some shots really bring out that chin of his, which...<cough>...to me, is the least greatest feature of his. Hehehe. His lovely blue eyes will have to be covered up with some Creme Brulee contact lenses. I like this B&W picture of him. I could see army fatigue wearing 22-year old Alexander. Here's the link. I couldn't get the picture to post.

What is B&W? I hope I don't know it because I don't live in an english speaking country and not because of some terrible ignorance on my part. Yolie, when I see these pictures I'm beginning to think I might just "bear" him being Alexander , though you're right about the eyes. I'm wondering if it's possible in reality to have T & A one petite and one enormous as they are described and make it look appealing. When I think about it, I don't really like these construction type guys (I think Yolie mentioned that), it just seems so right in the book. Where on earth can you find a Tatiana like in the book who looks innocent and terribly sexy at the same time? Anybody have any ideas?

If a movie is made, I would really love for it to be in Russian with English Subtitles, it would make it that much more real, and they would be able to include the parts where Alexander is teaching Tania English!

Oh, sorry. Black & White. Riki, funny that you should mention Tania. My insomnia is kicking tonight, so I was up googling Blonde Actresses for Tatiana. Hahaha. Strange, but I actually don't have an image of Tatiana in my mind. All I can think of is very blonde hair, petite, braids, innocent eyes. That's it. So hard! What about Kristen Bell? Yeah, not the best. She qualifies for petite and blonde. Don't know about the rest though. The innocent part really has to work though. Very important, no? And she wouldn't be too "buxom" either.

Oops! My post went through before I saw your post, CJ. I've thought about the language issue too. And I'd love for the movie/mini-series/big HBO seires, etc. to be pretty much verbatim. Am I wishing for too much? hehehe.

Are all those pictures in the link of Henry Cavill? He seems so different in each one. I feel he's actually growing on me as Alexander. He seems to be a big favourite for this part. Have you seen the trailers people have made for the film? some are quite interesting. From the B&W picture you can really imagine how he would look sullen and moody, can't you? which is quite often Alexander's mood It seems finding a Tatiana is really tough.

I am not familiar with Russian actors, but the role of Tatiana may be best suited by a native of Russia and not necessarily someone well known. She would have to embody Tatiana's goodness and innocence while exuding a stong sensuality.

She, of all persons, should know what is important, what should be said, and what cannot be cut out. Didn't JK Rowling do something like that? Or at least have a say? caseyjarryn wrote: If a movie is made, I would really love for it to be in Russian with English Subtitles, it would make it that much more real, and they would be able to include the parts where Alexander is teaching Tania English! Yes. How else would they re-creat those scenes? Riki wrote: Are all those pictures in the link of Henry Cavill? He seems so different in each one. I feel he's actually growing on me as Alexander. Yes, I believe they're all Henry Cavill. I haven't seen the trailers yet, but I've been tempted. If you say they're good, I might go and take a peek. Tatiana will be tough.
