Since this is the first time I've done an on line book club book, I'm curious as to how it works. I read that the read starts Jan. 3. Is this so many chapters a week, a month?? I'm not sure what the guidelines are, or if there really are any other than read the book and post your thoughts.
Help, please for the newbie here.
Thanks! Raelin

Hi Raelin, We are going to read the book and then starting on the 20th (?) someone is assigned to write a summery of the chapter and offer some conclusions or questions that will open the discussion. Each week we get another chapter to discuss. Rebecca ia a pretty quick read!
I am looking forward to our discussions.

Mine, too, Raelin, and it is a lot of fun to exchange thoughts with so many people with different perspectives. I just read the first chapter and will try to stay with the program. I actually thought that it started this week also.

Hi Raelin

We are starting to discuss Rebecca from the 23rd of January - and we will discuss one chapter each week until the book is finished, and as there are 27 chapters to get through, it will take us until the end of July 2012 to complete the book. The chaptersummaries will be available each Monday....and will be found HERE

The idea of a joint discussion per chapter works well for Classic novels, and opens up the book to debate, of course you can read the book in its entirety for yourself -just remember not to add any spoilers to the individual chapter debate - I will add a spoiler thread if anyone wants to go off tangent...

I am always on the search for volunteers to help out with chapter summaries - if you check the forum calendar -found on the toolbar at the top of the page- you will see who is doing which chapter...

The important thing is to enjoy reading and sharing a story you wouldn't necessarily have picked for yourself...

We also have Monthly book reads, which is a different book each month - I usually try to pick novels that are quite current and hopefully there is something for everyone .. :read:

Our book of the month for January is The Radleys by Matt Haig -Book of the Month

The important thing is to have fun !
