Phil Rickman is an author that Diane has mentioned from time to time as someone she has read and enjoyed. I tracked down several of this books in January and I just finished reading the last of the three. I loved The Bones of Avalon. The Merrily Watkins Mysteries not so much(did not finish the last of them). I just finished The Man in the Moss which was wonderful.

I recommend checking Rickman out. His characters are well developed and the stories are full of surprises and twists and will keep you reading. The Man in the Moss is my favorite because there is lots of lore, suspense, humor and plain old good vs evil. I should make that a EVIL.

I had a difficult time finding these books in the US. I ended up having to order on Biblo.com from a British vender of used books, but the wait was worth the read!

Has anyone else read his books? What were your favorites? Are there any other titles that are not part of the Watson mysteries?

Janet - I'm glad that you enjoyed reading Phil Rickman's books. He was actually born in my home town !

I agree that Man in The Moss is excellent- quite Gothic and gloomy but wonderfully written, and full of surprises.

His books are easily available in Kindle form on Amazon.com - I can recommend his stand alone novels:

These are my favourites

“Sassenach." He had called me that from the first; the Gaelic word for outlander, a stranger. An Englishman. First in jest, then in affection.”
