The CD for the musical is in a sealed envelope which is stitched into the binding. Is anyone else having concerns about ruining the pristine condition of their book to access the CD? Any recommendations?

repo, I actually cut the edge of the CD off, to get it out instead of pulling it. So I left the sleeve attached to the book and pulled out the cd. it took a bit of finangling but it worked.

I didn't even realize there was a cd! I've been afraid to crease the spine by actually opening the book. Maybe I should post that in the round the bend thread.

I would definitely encourage anyone who has the 20th Anniversary edition to read through the extra material in the back. Don't just stick this book on a shelf without bothering to glance through it! There's some good stuff in there -- not just the sample CD, but an essay by Diana, a lengthy Reader's Guide to OUTLANDER, and more! I understand the idea of wanting to keep the book pristine...but this book is also meant to be enjoyed , and IMHO you are missing out on part of that enjoyment if you just buy the book and immediately put it aside without even looking through it, for fear of somehow damaging its collectibility. As for the CD envelope, I agree that they should have made it easier to detach. I slit it open and pulled out the CD, but I don't like the fact that the empty envelope is just left hanging there. Thank you for the advice. I even considered buying a second copy to keep one pristine. Since I already have hardbound, paperback, ebook, and audio, I couldn't quite justify that!
I suppose this is kind of like marriage - you want to put your partner on a pedestal, but the real value comes from the bumps and bruises (along with the joys) of living a full and rich life!

I got my copy from the library so someone there had already opened the CD envelope so they could write the library ID on the CD itself, so I didn't have to worry about it myself. Even so, it wasn't quite as easy to get it out as I was expecting.

I got my copy yesterday...Borders is going out of business. So, I bought my 20th edition and my Outlandish Companion! 40% off each. I took the last book of each and only one copy of Drums was left. I'm ecstatic!

So I lent my paperback copy of Outlander to my mother, with my name dutifully written inside . She read it and enjoyed it very much and then gave it away ( the poor thing did not remember that it was mine). Soooooooooo I get to buy a new copy and am patiently waiting for my new copy, 20th anniversary edition of course; to arrive.

Any recommendations? repoman The freebie CD in the back of the Anniversary edition is only a demo of Outlander The Musical. If you haven't already bought it I highly recommend it. I have it playing in iTunes as I type this. I'm not leaving mine on the shelf to gather dust. I recently re-kilted Outlander and used my 20th anniversary to do it.

Very prod of owning this edition, especially that it got Daina's dedication and autograph.
