Thanks for the information, Maryfaithpeace. This sounds like a great opportunity to speak with DG.

I have hardly put a dent in SP, but I am sure there will be many questions to follow.

Wow. That's a great opportunity, but not a great time for me (it starts just a few minutes before I leave to pick kids up from school). I'll think about whether I can manage it before I rsvp. Excited to know about it, though. :D

Thank you for the info, MaryFaith! I'm only a little halfway through, but am going to be burning the midnite oil to see if I can finish it by Tuesday!

How was the book chat, MaryFaithPeace, were you able to join in? If so, please give us the 4-1-1! :thanks:

I RSVP'd and meant to join in, but had to make a quick run back to DD's school to retrieve a book, and by the time I got back I'd totally missed it.

I watched the chat today and after the techical difficulties, she was her usual feisty self. She was honest and a lot of it we've heard before (well, if you've seen her talk or watched previous video). She did say that she wouldn't tour as much next year in order to finish Book 8 which was a good thing because she said that once she submitted it to her editors, it took about 3 months to print.

BTW, Mary won a copy of SP for participating in the chat. Congratulations!

Congrats Mary on winning a book! :D

Thanks for the heads up on the chat video. I'll try to watch tomorrow.

Getting my question answered by Herself was "prize" enough for me, but to win a free book - that topped it all! If you missed it, I've got it embedded in my blog : http://mytruthuniversallyacknowledged.blogspot.com/ and booktrib has it archived on their site. TIP: if you're ever in a chat with her, never ask her about writing fiction based on her ethnicity/heritage...You'll see why on the video. Happy Christmas everyone!

As many of you know, Diana Gabaldon's birthday is Wednesday, January 11th. She will be 60 years old.

For those of you on Twitter: you can help celebrate Diana's birthday by tagging your tweets on the 11th with #HappyBdayDG. We did the same thing last year, and it was a lot of fun. Let's see how many people we can get to participate this time! You can address your tweets to Diana directly if you want -- she uses the id Writer_DG (http://twitter.com/#%21/Writer_DG).

Let's see if we can get #HappyBdayDG trending on Wednesday!

Please pass this on to anyone else you know who may be interested. Thanks!

Karen

Exciting news for Diana today! "Lord John and the Plague of Zombies" has just been nominated for an Edgar award (http://www.theedgars.com/index.html) by the Mystery Writers of America.

You can see the full list of Edgar award nominees at http://www.theedgars.com/nominees.html#short. The winners will be announced on April 26.

Thanks to Lynne Perednia on Compuserve for letting us know about this. (Even Diana didn't know until Lynne posted it on the forum this morning.)

If you've been waiting for an excuse to read "Plague of Zombies", this seems like a good opportunity to check it out for yourself. I really enjoyed it (and I'm definitely not a fan of zombie or horror stories normally!) and I think the rest of you will, too.

There's a thread on Compuserve here if you want to send congratulations or good luck messages to Diana directly:
