“Sassenach." He had called me that from the first; the Gaelic word for outlander, a stranger. An Englishman. First in jest, then in affection.”

Ann Peacock's Filmography is also on IMDB.

Positive: I really like the idea of her obvious intelligence via the law degree and teaching law. These books are not simple concepts and plots.
Negative: My only *ooo...eeee" moment was "Nights in Rodanthe". I thought that movie was just bad (even with Richard Gere) but it could have been just a lacking in the original material (I am not a fan of Nicholas Sparks).
Positive: Chronicles of Narnia
Positive: Her filmography suggests she is quite highly regarded in the industry; she's worked with some high level talent.

 Kudos to TraceyR for breaking the story.

It appears that she picks what she wants to write, not just takes a job because someone asks her. Hopefully that means she has some real feeling for OL. Wouldn't want to be in her shoes. ;)

I just came across this article on Gerard Butler vs. Ewan McGregor for the part of Jamie Fraser.

Dailyrecord.co.uk

What do you think?

Diana addressed the article on CompuServe, expressing it was mostly made up.

I can't quite see Ewan MacGregor as Jamie Fraser, but Ewan is a not-so-secret crush. *lol* My kids make fun of me because of it, but he is *fine*, is he not?
:mischief:

I can't picture Ewan MacGregor as Jamie, either, but maybe as Ian Sr.? I completely agree, Laura, Ewan is *fine* indeed!!!

I verra, verra much doubt if all the Butler fans will get 'their' Jamie, but I definitely don't see a very young, unseasoned actor being able to pull off such a complex and challenging role. Of course all of the above is strictly my own wee opinion.

I am wondering about Domhnall Gleeson as a young Jamie. He has the acting chops. He's 6'1" (not quite Jamie's height, but a decent try). Some photos on the net don't do him justice, but check out this youtube video, talking about his role as Bill Weasley in Harry Potter. Natural red head, knife blade nose, excellent cheek bones, nice smile. Irish lilt that hopefully he could turn into a Scot's burr without too much effort... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8jOexG_R60&feature=related
