LOVED the article, Linda! I can't begin to describe how incredibly excited I am for you to have found this success via e-publishing. House of Silence *deserved* to be published and now it is, albeit not yet in the printed word. We are honored you will be with us - once again! - as our BOTM in July.

I just read and enjoyed the article about self-publishing too. I had read about Barry Eisler's decision the same week you made House of Silence available for Kindle, so self-publishing was sort of a theme. I haven't read HoS yet - I don't have a Kindle, but I hope to get around that before the discussion here in July - but I am continuing to pass Star Gazing around my book group. :) In addition to me and my mom who read it when she visited back in October, four members of my book group have read and enjoyed it and I gave it to a fifth on Thursday. She'll have it all summer since we don't meet again until September and plans to pass it along to a couple of friends (one of whom used to come to our group but hasn't been able to lately because she is caregiver to a seriously ill husband). At least two of those people have posted on your Facebook page and read more of your books, too. :D So, we have our own little cluster of fans in our small corner of the upper midwest. :flower:

Thanks for letting me know, Laura. Now I know I'll check in more frequently.

4000 copies of HoS sold! :yipee:

I finished House of Silence over vacation (fittingly finished in the English countryside). I loved, loved, loved it. Now I'll get on with Untying the Knot.

Thanks, Lady Ross! :yipee: So pleased to hear you enjoyed it.

AmazonUK did an email promotion advertising UTK and sales really took off. It's now ranked in the UK and selling well and there's been a bit of a knock-on effect with the other e-books, with sales picking up.

But sadly there's still nothing happening in the US.

Some good news... HOUSE OF SILENCE is now in Amazon UK's Top Ten Editors' Pick "Best of 2011 by Indie Authors"! Yay! :-)

I think this is based not just on sales but on 4- and 5-star reviews (of which HoS has 46 in the UK.) I gather Amazon pays a lot of attention to reader reviews.

They are also plugging HoS in the Top 100 Sellers of 2011. It's about #62 I think.

I'm blogging today (Armistice Day in the UK) about my late father, war, PTSD & UNTYING THE KNOT here - http://authorselectric.blogspot.com/2011/11/suffering-in-silence-by-linda-gillard.html

There's also a new piece of fiction, SIX DAYS on my science blog here - http://celebrating-science.blogspot.com/2011/11/six-days-by-linda-gillard.html

The following post is about the writing of this commissioned piece.

You might like to take a look as SIX DAYS will probably be the foundation of the next novel, ie the one after the supernatural romance.
