Introducing our first book of 2011 EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY BY LINDA GILLARD

Image

From the book

Rose Leonard is on the run from her life.
Taking refuge in a remote island community, she cocoons herself in work, silence and solitude in a house by the sea. But she is haunted by her past,by memories and desires she'd hoped were long dead.
Rose must decide whether she has in fact chosen a new life or just a different kind of death. Life and love are offered by new friends, her lonely daughter, and most of all Calum,a fragile younger man who has demons of his own to exorcise.
But does Rose, with her tenuous hold on life and sanity, have the courage to say yes to life and put her past behind her.

I requested the book through ILL about a week ago, so hopefully I'll get it soon. It's hard to predict exactly how long the process will take, though. Should definitely be well before the 26th, though. Hopefully early enough that I can send questions in advance, but I can't promise.

For those of you new to my books and website... You will find photos of some of the settings of EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY (the island of North Uist in the Hebrides) on my website. (See sig.) There are also photos of some of my quilts (though these are nothing like as wonderful as Rose's quilts in the novel!) You'll also find suggestions for further reading and other fun stuff.

Thank you Jamie4everaye! :D I saw you had posted on Twitter. Thank you! (I don't do Twitter myself but tweets crop up in Google searches.)

I hope you enjoy the rest of the book - there's quite a bit of drama to come! - and that you find something of interest on my website. I also have an author page on Facebook. Come and join in the madness.

A snippet for you all to ponder: I took a break of two years while writing EMO GEO because I had to move house twice and get my kids off to university. Real life intervened, as it does so annoyingly. I had got to the end of Chapter 12 (p.231). I won't mention what happens at the end of Ch 12 for those who are still reading, but I still cannot fathom how I managed to stop writing there - for 2 whole years! Talk about delayed gratification.... :rotfl:

Waiting for my copy to come. Will need to clean house this weekend so I have plenty of time to read when it gets here.

Thistle, if you are like me, I read it in 3 days and I am not a fast reader. It is just so compelling that I couldn't stop.

You stopped THERE?? For 2 YEARS??!! That must have been pure torture. I was interrupted ~ at an extremely crucial moment ~ for about 12 hours and it was killing me that I couldn't finish the book! 12 hours vs 2 years? Inconceivable!
