I've just started. I'm only about eighty pages in but hoping to put some major damage in the book when I have free time this evening. Thus far, the wheels are churning. So glad to have Jon and Tyrion back.

I agree, Lady Ross! I also missed Jon & Tyrion FFC - the point of view GRR Martin tells the story makes this story fascinating! I've already finished the book, and won't give anything away. All I can say is, get ready for a great read and can't wait to chat about it!

I'm catching up NE Mom and I have the whole house to myself tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to put a good dent in to start our conversation!

Awesome, hope you had a very enjoyable reading night! :read: It's so nice to have the whole house quiet for reading time, love when that happens.

I was really going to pace myself to read this book over several months to make it last....yeah, right--finished it in 6 days! It's that good!

Six days?! Whoa! It took me a bit longer than that, but not because I didn't want to read it...I literally read until I fell asleep after trying to keep my eyes open *just 5 more minutes* at a time.

Completely agreed, Aquagirl, it's that good! :)

So I'm about 150 pages in, and it seems like Daenarys is having a breakdown of sorts. What I don't understand is what happened to Drogon? At first, I didn't think he killed the child. But maybe he did? or maybe the Meerenese want to destroy the dragons, the seat of Dani's power, not her. Drogon obviously has to come back....?

Daenarys does seem lost - she was right on with her instincts on how to hatch them, but doesn't seem to know what to do with them/for them now that they are getting bigger. I think Drogon did kill the child :( only because he is getting so much bigger and is hunting for food with no thought on exactly what he should or shouldn't be hunting. I seriously keep wishing Daenarys would come across a book, or for someone to give her a book on "How to Train Your Dragon(s)". I don't think Drogon will ever completely abandon Dani. Sometimes it seems like he takes on some of Khal Drogo's warrior traits, which makes me worry for the traits Vyseron and Rhaegon might take on, considering the "life for life" that the witch had a hand in...

The Meerenese are definitely tricky, I don't trust them one bit.

I am very anxious for Dany--she's my favorite character :worry:

I'm anxious for Dani, but I think i'm more anxious for Jon Snow. He's thrust into such a mess, and with Winterfell hanging in the balance!

And it is just getting worse. Oh, Jon Snow. oh boy. All around. And Davos? I'm not convinced Manderly is going to kill him. Maybe make a huge show of it for the Lannisters and Freys. He's going to try to play both sides- it is obvious that he has to play to get his son.

The more Jon tries to help, it seems the deeper he gets involved in things he never thought possible. He's learned well from his father, but will it be enough? Manderly is treading in difficult political territory. Davos seems a smart man, his wits will hopefully help to save him from losing his life over them.

I sort of see it as Jon's destiny and he has to make some kind of a choice soon. I hope he goes back to Winterfell, personally. I don't think Sansa is capable of being a good lord and steward. Arya seems to be out of pocket. And Bran? Will his lords trust him, if he returns to Winterfell? There seems to be a lot of mistrust of wargs and a general prejudice against handicapped/disabled.

Rickon? He was wild before but maybe he can be trained by Jon. who knows. All speculation at this point. Hopefully I'll get to read more tonight and push forward.
