Kind of like it's easier to kill butterflies or ladybugs (and who would want to?) than cockroaches.....Littlefinger just oozes sleaze.

I agree, he is so sleazy. I never got over how he basically brought about Ned's death. Petyr knew how vicious Joffrey was and how unstable Cersei.

Also, I am convinced that he wants to keep Sansa for himself. Maybe because she is a miniature Catelyn?

LR. that is the thought I had too. Petyr is pretty sleazy but what great character writing. As much as I despise him, it isn't a fraction of what I feel for BJR. Poor Sansa. What a difficult position to be in. Well, at least, you would think she wouldn't be forced to marry Robert.

I remember the build-up to the red wedding and my heart pounding faster and faster as the dread built. Even after Ned in the first book, I couldn't believe he did it-a double-hit on the Starks!

I think GRRM is great about really cultivating your hatred of a character, only to turn things around and show you a different side of the same character's personality. With Jaime, a lot of the change-up goes along with how tragic it is for him to lose his hand. GRRM did an awesome job of detailing just what that kind of a loss meant for a soldier, and it was probably the first time I felt pity for Jaime.

I love these books, but book 3 may just be my favorite. That could be because Joffrey finally gets it, but I think it's probably more because it was such an emotional ride.

I'm with you, Tink. Petyr's definitelly sleazy. The audio version of this book is read with a great infusion of sleaze in his voice, and I think the actor in the series also plays him perfectly. As for Sansa, marrying Robin *shudder*, he seems really sickly, I'm not sure that he will be healthy enough for marriage, but with GRRM's writing, who knows?

The Starks, and all their accompanying tragedies were shocking for me, too, Harkins. It keeps making me think about the direwolf scene, in Book 1, and everything it might have foreshadowed. The way the Lannister's are developing is different, after this book I hated Cersei even more, also felt for Jaime, and started rooting for Tyrion.
