:bagpipe: all books are open for discussion :bagpipe:

Has anyone ever "researched" where Jamie and Claire's home on the ridge would be in North Carolina? Would it be near Asheville (since a view of Black Mountain from their property is mentioned) or toward Charlotte (mid-state), or more north, towards the coast?????

I was planning a trip to NC and would LOVE to incorporate Jamie and Claire into if I can!!

:D

Thanks for the welcomes and it has already been fun. Thanks also, hippchick, for the Google Earth videos. I have since gotten an email back from Diana with a link to the ComputServ Forum with the description of the location of Fraser's Ridge, which is within 10 miles of Blowing Rock (actually going there this weekend to see the tree colors, so will be thinking of Jamie, Claire and the rest!).

RMK, if you take some photos please post them here. We also have a thread on "Where are you Exiled" that includes images of the OL books, especially Exile, taken in various locales. It would be great to have a picture of "Fraser's Ridge" with one of the books in it.

RMK, please post pictures of the Ridge for us. Never mind it will make keeping fiction and reality separate even more difficult than it already is for me. LOL

How fun! My daughter goes to App State in Boone! I was thinking all along that the Ridge might be somewhere around there. The descriptions of the land reminded me a lot of the drive up the mountain from Leonora. Is there an exact place? Can anyone tell me where? I will get some pictures the next time we visit!

There is a close location, and I know someone posted it here on the site. Give me a bit to find exactly where . . .

I rather keep Fraser's Ridge as a fantasy place. It is all in my mind and in my heart.

Have so much enjoyed that place, I could describe it in details, the vicissitudes of every single member of the McKenzie family.
I recall the anguish of Claire when identifies the heart mulfunction of baby Mandy, the discovery of the extraordinary pecularity of Jemmy when, unwillingly, he blows up the opale crystal......
The secret hiding place of the hidden gold known only to Jamie and Jemmy.
Fraser's Ridge is by now the only sanctuary where Brie Roger Mandy Jemmy can escape their fate in the XX century of being pursued by the CIA, Her Majesty Secret Service, and who else..??

Only the extraordinary talents of Diana Gabaldon could create such an amazing and compelling story.

When do we get Book number 9 of the Outlander saga?

I don't know... didn't Diana Gabaldon say at some point that it takes four years for her to write one of the main novels? That means that since MOBY was released last year, we'll get the ninth book in three years. Though that does depend on when she starts writing the book...

She has started writing it Chericola because she sometimes posts snippets from it on her Facebook page.

Yes I have read some very interesting bits and pieces of book 9 on Facebook. Can't wait! In an interview I saw on the internet Dianna knows how the story will finally end. The only people who know, besides her, are Ron Moore and Sam Heughan and they are legally bound to secret
It might be fun to start a theory of why things are happening and ultimate to what end.

Yes PegB, the idea of speculating on when and how the McKenzie will manage to reach Fraser's Ridge really "grinds my corn" (eh eh eh). As I seem to recall, they not only landed on the wrong spot, but 4 years away from when intended. It was 1739 was it not. And in 4 years time Claire Randall would fall through time at the stones of Craig na Dunn.

Blowing Rock,NC is only a short distance away from Grandfather Mt,home of one of the largest Highland Games in the world chosen due to its close resemblance to Scotland.Mj

Speculating on what will happen to the MacKenzie.
Am sure Diana will take four to five chapters to construct the great adventures of Brie Roger Mandy and Jemmy that would take them all safe and sound to Fraser's Ridge, in the loving arms am mum dad grandpa..!!
It really intrigues me how Diana will move them to the right time slot. I can imagine how would they move location(s). Jems enough around. Will they meet again Geillis or the lass is really gone frorever.... ((:
