My book group just finished reading THE WOMAN IN WHITE by Wilkie Collins. Prior to reading THE WOMAN IN WHITE, I read Nora Ephron's I FEEL BAD ABOUT MY NECK in which the author mentioned THE WOMAN IN WHITE as one of her all-time favorite books, one that she lost herself in completely. I now fully understand that comment.

If you have not read THE WOMAN IN WHITE, do so. This book has everything: star-crossed lovers, evil villains, a uncaring guardian, a mysterious midnight encounter with a woman on the run, mistaken identities, kidnapping and secrets that must be kept at any cost! You will not regret the hours spent with Marion Halcombe and Walter Hartright as they match wits with the evil Count Fosco and Sir Percival Glyde.

The Woman in White is a classic Gothic novel - full of menace....I feel a Kindle download coming on - thanks for reminding me !

“Sassenach." He had called me that from the first; the Gaelic word for outlander, a stranger. An Englishman. First in jest, then in affection.”

I read Woman in White in college. I remember liking it. I think it is currently in one of my many, many "I have too many books" boxes in my basement...
