A photobucket site called OutlanderCastingGalleryhas this photo posted (along with a few other choices for Claire), but I don't know who the actress is.

I really like this write-up on The Lit Connection about casting Claire. (Note: there are ABOSAA spoilers in the write-up!)

The Lit Connection has a collage of characters, too. Pretty cool!

The suggestions: First choice: Ruth Wilson. YouTube favorites: Kate Beckinsale, Rachel Weiss

Ruth Wilson:

Kate Beckinsale (gorgeous, but not my choice at all!) :

Rachel Weiss:

One of my choices for Claire would be Rachel Bilson

The OutlanderCastingGallery in Photobucket (link above provided by Laura) includes a perfect looking Claire, but I don't know the name of the actress. Does anyone know who she is?

I like Lady Jayne's choice just above. She looks like Claire to me. She has a very classic look and the hair texture is spot on! But I don't know who she is either. I also like Kate Winslet for the role.

The very famous YouTube video, Outlander Part 1, cast Claire for me. Her name is Felicitas Woll, and she's a German actress. But, she definitely looks like the Claire in my mind.

I found this old piece on Diana's Blog: CURLS, posted soon after the first Graphic Novel depiction of Claire was released. Diana is quite adamant that Claire does not have corkscrew curls. ;) In another blog entry, DG give links to pictures of Madeline Stowe, showing what Claire's hair DOES look like. The links were no longer good, though, so I found these photos of Madeline Stowe (who is obviously too old to play Claire in Outlander):

D.G. says that she didn't intend for Claire to have corkscrew curls? Wasn't Jamie always pulling her curls down her back all of the time. Wasn't the picture of Mandy with a head of curls supposed to be a trait of Claire's. And, in Outlander, didn't the owner of the B&B mention Perms to Claire when she was talking about her hair.

I don't know, I've always pictured Claire with long, corkscrew, perm-type curls. These pictures just look like wavy hair to me.

I agree with Costantino. DG's descriptions of Claire always mention her long, unruly curls. Claire's hair is referred to as the head of Medusa, and Jamie calls her "curly wig." I take that to mean someone with tight, and sometimes wild, curls, not just wavy hair.

In all fairness, I'm not sure if these pictures of Madeline Stowe were what Diana posted on her blog (they were no longer available). A good 80% of the photos of Madeline Stowe available via a google search showed her with quite straight hair. I suppose we'll just have to wait until the Graphic Novel is released to get a true idea of what Diana sees as Claire's curls.

How about Emmy Rossum. . . .

Her hair may not be unruly enough, but she is beautiful!

I cropped the photo to be a little more family-friendly and added a few others of her hair:

Thanks Laura. :)

I wonder what her backside looks like? I think it's probably not quite fat enough.

Yes, these physical attributes are verra important. If Keira Knightley gained about 25 pounds, she would make a lovely Claire. She has the gusto as we saw in Pirates of the Caribbean.
