^ have you seen the teaser trailer? it's only 30 seconds long or something, but it got me pretty excited for the movie... I hope my expectations aren't too high, don't want to be disappointed.

I read The Hunger Games when was first released . . . and could not put the book down! I never did read the other 2 in the series, though.

Oh, Laura, you should read the other two also!
I'm on the wait list for an audio version, so I hope the timing will work out for listening just before discussion starts. It's been a while since I read it and would like to refresh myself on details.

I thought I wouldn't like Hunger Games when my Book Club read it, but it hooked me. I was downloading the next book minutes after finishing the last. Loved the series...as did my DH...who rarely likes the same books I do.

I downloaded it. I have a book or two ahead of it (Untying the knot for one) but then I will read it.

I was just looking for this book at Borders yesterday to give to my daughter for her birthday. I couldn't put them down (or take them off my ears for the audio ones). I'll have to review it again because the books kind of run together for me (as series always do).

I'm glad you've picked this one, Sassenach. Some of my kids have read it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Here's a good reason to do so!

I'm working on it right now. i want to get it done before the movie gets out.
Did anyone have difficulty with the writing? I'm not sure I really like the style. But the plot is compelling, so I just keep going.

I'm heading for Borders now, to take advantage of the 80% off Going Out of Business sale. I've been waiting to buy the trilogy at a reduced price. Looking forward to sharing the read with this group!

Good luck at Borders Aquagirl because they are really picked over. No Suzanne Collins books at all. The only D.G. book left was the OL Companion Guide and the only Paullina Simons was The Summer Garden (which I own). It was too depressing in there. I really had to leave. Too many memories of midnight book releases of Harry Potter, story hours in the children's dept, and butter beers in the cafe. My daughter and I look at each other in there and want to weep!

Same here, Aquagirl. People were buying the monitors and keyboards. It's a real fire sale. It looks like another week or two tops. I'm just not a Barnes & Noble person (even though I have a Nook which was a gift and has already started having problems a year and a half later). There's some independents up near the colleges but parking is a pain.
