I know that there are Twilight fans on here and so you may well already be aware of this link to read The Second Short Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer on line for free until the 5th July 2010.

Read it here

It's a novella of about 160 pages. It cannot be printed or downloaded onto e-readers.

“Sassenach." He had called me that from the first; the Gaelic word for outlander, a stranger. An Englishman. First in jest, then in affection.”

I picked it up on Friday and finished it in a day. It's a very interesting take on one of the characters that Victoria created and her life for the last 4-5 days until the big fight in the woods. Very nice short story. SM said that had she thought of Bree's story before the end of the Twilight series she would have changed a part of the ending. After reading the story, I can see a couple of alternatives or additions to the ending. If you like the Twilight series, and I know a lot of you do, you'll love this story. Enjoy! :read:

I am almost through with it and I love it. Just an interesting take on a story we are already so familiar with. It gives a whole new meaning to what happens in Eclipse.

I thought since many of us came to Outlander by way of Forks, we needed a place to post miscellaneous Twilight news.

For those who collect Twilight stuff, Burger King is featuring Eclipse gift cards, etc. now.

I am so thrilled that the movie is out next week.

If you have cable or satellite, check out Reelz channel for almost daily Eclipse news leading to the movie premiere.

Me, too! FYI -- The Jimmy Kimmel Live show on ABC is having a Twilight special on Wednesday, June 23rd. It airs at 10 pm Eastern Time.

I've pretty much abandoned Twilight for Outlander. I was never a fan of SM's writing style, but I liked the story. :)

:agree: Me too. I'm grateful for Twilight for getting me hooked on reading again, but after the last movie, I'm not sure I'll be thinking about Twilight much (other than some juicy fanfic now and again LOL). I tried reading them again after I read OL, but I just couldn't get through the first book. I just don't feel an emotional connection to the characters as much as that first time (DG has ruined me!) Speaking of fanfic. I think something could be said to the fact that I enjoy me some Twilight fanfic, but couldn't imagine OL fanfic. No one could do DG's characters the same as Herself, ken?

I still love both and have had no interest in fanfic. I love that we all bring different loves to this forum though. It gives us lots of diversity!

It's weird for me the way my reading tastes have changed. You could never get me to put down a book as a kid, my dad would have to lock me out of the house to get me to play outside because I would prefer to sit in my room all day reading. I started with the classics (thanks to my dad) then on to Clive Barker and Michael Crichton, then fantasies/fiction/sci-fi ... then Twilight came along and I did love the story. But then my friend started me on Outlander and I agree, DG has wrecked me. I try to find books similar to Outlander and I always hope they are DGesque. LOL. I just downloaded 'The Irish Warrior' and well, disappointed. Other short books though I a can be satisfied with, but much everything else pales in comparison now. I actually dabble in writing, but now everything I write isn't good enough because my standards have changed ... Curse you DG - and I mean that with love.
