Just finished this series of 5 books and was blown away by it.
Was wondering if anybody else has read them and if so what did you think?
I would love to open discussions on the individual books like Black Dagger brotherhood, but don't know if this okay or not.
If you haven't read them I would HIGHLY Recommend you do so especially if you liked the BDB books.

I love these books, too. Not anywhere like I do Outlander but they did hold my attention. I also love the highlander ones she wrote.

I just finished Shadowfever last week. I'd read the others between November and January. I enjoyed the series. It doesn't compare to Outlander for me, but I enjoyed it and have actually been posting comments/questions pretty much daily on a thread for it on a different board as I contemplate some of the things in SF. I haven't read the Highlander ones. They scare me a bit as formulaic romances, which aren't my thing, but maybe someday I'll try them. Just not now because I am positively drowning in library books with due dates at the moment. :worry:

audiobooklover, I would compare the highlander books to the Outlander series by saying they are like hamburger compared to Prime Rib. Both are good, just depends on which you are hungry for. (I love Prime Rib. )

I also caught the "fever" and would love discussing them if I can remember what was going on in each book. That's the problem with series books for me, they start to run together. I have the current shadowfeaver on my Nook, but the other books I listened to on audio. They were certainly great for keeping me going at the gym. It'll come back to me if you post individual threads. I'm going to do the "highlander" ones on audio when they come out. Right now, it's just book 6 or something (at the library) and I hate to start a series in the middle (although I did that with the Pink Carnation series and then went back to the beginning but they are self-contained stories).

I'm going to give these books another chance. I started the first Fever novel, heard from some others that the series was terrible and gave up. So after I read the dozens of other books in the to-be-read pile....I like the hamburger and prime rib comparison. Sometimes hamburger or cotton candy or Cracker Jacks is just the ticket after a huge, complex story.

My wife, not the claire, has read some of the Highlander books as eBooks. I am about to start reading them. We are ordering the Fever series, but the Mac is having internet problems with the download.

My apologies in advance for anyone who like this series. Everyone has different tastes.

I tried listening to Dark Fever yesterday on CD after checking it out from the library. So many had suggested Karen Moning from this site. I don't know if it was the fake Georgia accent or what it was, but it really turned me off from the get go. I think these books are supposed to be sexy. I don't mind a little smut if it's in context, but DG has spoiled me into expecting an intellectual book.

I even enjoy a mindless romance for beach reading, but it was hard for me to totally check my brain at the door. An example of a brainless beach read for me would be Jane Porter's "Firting with Forty."

There is no way these 500 year old Adonises would know 20-21st century slang words for sex acts. I was disappointed. I get the hamburger vs. prime rib comparison but to me that's way too generous.

If this chick can get published, I need to start writing a book. I know I could do better and probably many of us on this site could. There are amateurs on fanfiction.net who could write rings around this author.

I liked the Highlander books much better than the Fever books. I am a sucker for anything Scotland. I never even noticed the slang. :rotfl: When I read books like these it is usually on such a shallow level. Not anywhere near reading OL.

I read the first fever book and enjoyed it, and I have the second one but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet... I think I'll need to reread the first one before I do read it, as I can't actually remember what happens. haha

I listened to all of the Fever series on audio and they were fun for working out with and for cleaning the house. When the Highland books become available for my Nook, I download them but they are kind of a light read to offset something serious that I am reading. I'm reading the 3rd book now while listening to The Short Life of Oscar Wao and believe me, my mind needs the escape that Moning supplies.

OMJ I love the Fever Series!!!

The last book was released on my birthday and i decide as a present to myself! That my husband should grant me " a day of reading without any intrusions what so ever "
( which of course i needed i was working 11 hour shifts at a dental office & my one year old had the flu the week before I needed a break!) I need a quick mini vacation so reading in bed is what i needed.

Its a perfect get way from some of the heavy books

I roar for barons!
& btw looks like its coming to the screen. Dream works working on making it to a series!

Wow, I didn't know anyone on this site was reading the fever books by Karen. I did enjoy them. I just found out on Karen's blog that she is writing more fever books with some other charaters from the books. It is Dani, Christian, and Ryodan. Then she is going back to Mac and Barrons. It will be interesting. Things are dark in Unseelie Dublin.

Sally2011 - What a Perfect birthday gift and the best antidote to a hectic life. Thanks for sharing the movie update. That should be something to see on the big screen - LOL!

Buggs - I would love to see a series around Dani. She was one of the best characters in the whole series. Loved her.

Ohh I love the fever series!

Buggs!- I can't wait for the other books to come out. I would like to read about Christian & Ryodan. I didn't thing she was working on the other characters.

Pauline- I'm just hoping they dont change it as they did to True blood or try to make it to a teen movie which fever fans know that would just kill the story.

Well it's time to get ready for this storm. I am hoping we don't lose power!
