Looking for something epic to read, to obsess you, and to tide you over until the next DG project is released?
Check out the Lymond Chronicles, and the Niccolo Series by Dorothy Dunnett. She is not for lazy readers, or anyone looking for a quick read. I've read the Lymond Chronicles twice now, and i'm getting ready to start the Niccolo series, and I'm really fascinated by her writing.
Like Diana's works, these are not books that can be completely appreciated with one read-through. They are difficult, but intricate and fascinating. There are many sections that require deep thought to try to tease out their intended meanings.
Give yourself a good two months of obsessive reading to complete either series. They are long, but full of angst, humor, heart-break, self-destruction, and triumph.
Anyone read them?

Anyone read them? HI!! Oooo-I'm in the midst of the 4th book in the Lymond Chronicles and have already completed the House of Niccolo series. I can't wait to finish, so I can start all over again! DD was an absolutely amazing writer.

Fantastic! Sooooo, when I have questions about Niccolo I know who to call!
The fourth in the Lymond Chronicles has a few of the most heartbreaking moments that I have ever read. If you need a shoulder to cry on, pm me!
I loved the series, too. And as soon as I finished, I started right back from the beginning. They are even better the second time through.
I've heard that her book King Hereafter is also fantastic (she thought it was her best work), but I don't have it yet. It's also on my list.

Devhoted-- I am about 100 pages into Checkmate. I am excited to be nearing the finish, but I'm oh so nervous!

Yeah for DD. Since Devhoted happens to be slightly acquainted with me (Ahem! She's my brilliant daughter) she has been guiding me through some fantastic reading. She hooked me on OL series and many others. My latest project is Dunnett. I loved Lymond Chronicles. So brilliantly written, but not easy. Niccolo is much easier to read, but just as complex and intriguing. Bravo, Dorothy.
