I haven't read this series yet, but am thinking about starting it. Can you guys who love it tell me a bit more? I read the House of Night books and they were ok, but a bit young for my taste. Is this series geared towards teens?
Thanks for your input.XoXo

This is definitely not geared toward teens. The brothers are a ruling class of very hunky vampires united in their mission to protect themselves from attacks by Lessers, humans that have had their souls removed. There is explicit sex and violence. Great literature, no. Great entertainment, yes.

I've read them all. The description I've used is that they are trashy paranormal romance, but strangely addictive. IMO, they get better as they go in terms of a more complexly developed world and more to the story than a formulaic romance. I definitely enjoyed them - and they go quick - but, as Thistle said, they do not count as great literature.

I've not read the series either but am sorely tempted to give them a try - I like discovering new series, and if they entertain that's good enough for me -

“Sassenach." He had called me that from the first; the Gaelic word for outlander, a stranger. An Englishman. First in jest, then in affection.”

They are great books. Very explicit - we sort of call it mommy porn but they are oddly compelling. I have read them all too and just loved them. They are a fun break from anything heavy, a fast read in between big, deep complex books.

Thanks for the comments. Sounds like a series I would like, so I bought books 1,4,5 which is what my local bookstore had, and ordered 2,3.
I'll wait till they come in before starting. I remember when I began the Twilight, and Outlander books how frustrated I was not to be able to begin the next one RIGHT away.

Let us know what you think. I am hesitating reading another long series as I got sucked in by the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries by Charlaine Harris and promised myself they would be the last one. ;)

LJ, I read those too. They are all very fast reads so it doesn't bother me that they are long or ongoing.

The BDB books are longer than the Sookie ones, but they go fast. I wouldn't swear off series altogether, but I can see taking a break in between those.

I read Sookie, also. I really liked them, too.

Strangely addictive is right! This series ranks right up there with Harry Potter, Twilight and Outlander as a compelling series that it's best to have the next book handy so as not to have withdrawal fits until it is in your grasp. :mischief:

I know, right! Very strange to find them so compelling.

I`m on board--just picked book one and two.
I`m not into vampire stuff usually but I like that there is a hierarchy and societal things going on and the other `stuff` ain`t bad either :mischief:
