My Z book is a bit of a cheat since it was a short graphic novel. That was actually a bit of confusion on my part because there is a novel of the same title, with a different subtitle, that was recommended, but I didn't realize that my library didn't have the novel. I feel like my "O" is cheating a bit since it is so short, and it is her photos, not text, but I enjoyed the book, which I picked up on Friday on the strong recommendation of one of the other helpers while helping to set up the book sale at my library. And, she is the listed author, so I'm going with it. If I can, I'll see if I can get another "O" author, but if not I'll stick with this.

I updated both my title and author alphabet lists.

Is it sad then when I realized the titles I was adding covered the letters "K" and "Y" what immediately popped to mind was KY jelly and its uses.

I also added more authors than I had expected. I didn't realize I was getting so close to that alphabet too. In fact, I'm only missing 4 author letters and 3 of those are the same as the only 3 I'm missing for titles (not surprisingly: Q, X and Z).

OK. I will stop my rambling on random things now.

ABL -- read The Book Thief or The Messenger by Markus Zuzak for your 'Z'. Both phenomenal books.

I've read and enjoyed The Book Thief, but not The Messenger, so maybe I'll see if I can get to that. Thanks for the rec.

Just updated my lists with December's books. I managed to finish my alphabet list of titles and all but X on authors, so I'm feeling pretty successful. I plan to keep track again and see how it goes in 2012.

I mentioned the alphabet challenge to a group of young librarians who come to our Jane Austen Book Club at the local library. They thought it sounded fun, but thought they'd want to do it in order, A to Z. No way I'd manage that. I'm not sure any of them are actually going to try it, but I'll ask when we meet in a couple of weeks since it's time to start for 2012.
